Melanie began practicing yoga while in grad school as a way to counteract hunching over books and a keyboard for long hours. She fell in love with the holistic sense of well-being that yoga cultivates, both physical and mental, and found herself resonating with the more meditative side of yoga. Melanie sought to deepen her personal practice with yoga teacher training and was surprised at the joy she found sharing the practice with others.
Grounded in Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), her style incorporates elements of vinyasa flow with a focus on breathwork and proper alignment. Students will find a thoughtful, well rounded practice with Melanie that helps lengthen, strengthen, and calm. Outside her day job as a librarian, she teaches yogis of all ages and walks of life, and continues to grow her own practice one breath at a time.
Melanie has been an avid yoga practitioner since 2001; Yoga Alliance RYT-200 hour certified since 2014; and has nearly two decades of teaching experience in K-12, higher ed, and community centers. You can find her at the LTCC Library or out in the mountains doing trailside yoga.
